The monsters in my mind are a better friend than you

Friends. They have always baffled me. I don't understand how certain people can be the greatest person in your life and the next moment they turn their backs on you.
I love my friends, don't get me wrong but sometimes I feel so misplaced.
I'm very affectionate with my friends but they aren't affectionate towards me so I get insulted. When I tell jokes my friends don't generally laugh and when they do it's the greatest confidence boost. Friends aren't supposed to make you feel bad about yourself and shouldn't make you feel stupid when I say somethings.
So here it is:

How to be a great friend:

  1. Be supportive when your friend has bad or good news. Even if they speak about it just show that you are there or that you are happy.
  2. Be yourself and accept them for who they are. You shouldn't act or pretend with your friends and nor should you seek their approval
  3. Spend time together. It does not help to call each other friend if the only time you see each other is at a place like school
  4. Love and loyalty is all your friend needs
