What's in a name?

Hi friends,

People have often asked me what does the name 'Dance with the bulls' exactly mean and to be perfectly honest when I created this blog it honestly just popped into my mind so I could never exactly explain it but as I got older I started putting my own meaning to the name..

To me, Dance with the Bulls means to find the good in hardship. No matter what you are going through or what you are struggling with there will always be a silver lining.

The song Tokyo(Vampires and Wolves) by The Wombats illustrates what I mean with the name of this blog but to the point where this song is waiting for the silver lining.

In particular, these lyrics:

If you love me let me go

Back to that bar in Tokyo
Where the demons from my past
Leave me in peace
(ah ah ah ah)
I'll be animating every night
The grass will be greener on the other side
And the Vampires and Wolves
Won't sink their teeth
(ah ah ah ah)
I'm sick of dancing with the beast

The importance of 'Dance with the Bulls'as a never was never as big as it is to me now because I feel like it is the core of my soul and beliefs in a statement.

Comment and let me know what 'Dance with the Bulls' means to you.

xx

Why, Hello there!

Hello...
So it's been six months...
I'm really sorry about that actually.
The thing is, I started University in January and I just finished my first semester.
It was a huge step for me jumping from high school to moving out into a student residence to a small town and to university so I decided to take some time off (not that I was blogging all that often).
I have realised that since I am studying an extremely academic course (electronic engineering to be exact) that I needed a platform to express my creativity and some of my passions like fashion and beauty often. I have decided to become a frequent (weekly) blogger.
{I am also debating whether to start a channel on Youtube as well but that is just a thought}

This is just a post to officially tell you that this blog is now up and running.

December and January Favourites

Tangle Teezer

I first heard about a tangle teezer through Youtube's beauty guru Zoella and then a couple of months later I was at the hairdresser and they used it on my hair. Now my hair is extremely thick and curly, kind of like Lorde, and this was the first hairbrush that does not make my hair frizzy and it runs through the tangles so easily. Here in South Africa this hairbrush is a bit pricey but if you have the money to spend and you have thick hair I definitely recommend it.

Lush Cosmetics

I am currently using the Lush Sea Spray every time I wear my hair in a nice pony or down because it is such a good texture spray, it does not make your hair hard like hairspray but it keeps your curls and waves. It smells like the beach as well, it makes me feel like I spend hours on end lounging on the beach. I haven't used Snow Fairy just yet because it is limited edition so I am nervous it will be finished before Christmas but honestly it smell amazing, I cannot even explain. I love the Lush Bath Ballistics as well whenever I have a long day or in the mood for a nice bath.

BB Cream

I started using BB cream because it is summer at the moment and I feel like foundation is too heavy if it is hot and BB cream just makes me feel clean and great. The BB cream I use Granier which is the brand of face wash I use as well and this BB cream has very goo coverage but you use quite a lot. I use it in light but this shade is still too dark for me (this demonstrates how pale I am)

Revlon Lipstick in Black Cherry

I have been looking for a plum lipstick for such a long time and then I saw Zoella's favourites video where she mentioned this lipstick so I went and bought it. It is not so pigmented and you have to apply many layers to get a dark look but this is a drugstore lipstick so it is not that expensive and it is moisturizing.

Dirty Works Beauty Products

The packaging caught my eye because of its vintage look but I am so happy I took a leap and bought it. Their products smell so nice. The face masks is very moisturizing and gives my skin a boost. The eye cream does not conceal or decrease dark circles but it does decrease the puffyness which is a huge problem for me because I am always tired!

Jo Malone

I splurged some money on this candle and I could not be more happier about it. It smells amazing and the smell is strong enough for a big room. This candle relaxes me instantly.

Vans

I finally got myself a pair of vans and I am so happy. I love wearing these when I am wearing a casual outfit or going for a grunge look. They are so comfortable and are not just for guys.

Alexa Losey

Alexa Losey is a beauty guru on youtube and I absolutely love her. Now recently from her tweets and stuff she seems to be going through a hard time with friends and guys but I honestly don't know why? She is perfectly beautiful. I wish I could be friends with her and she looks like a great person. So Alexa if you see this send me a message:):)

Matric 101: How to survive

I just finished high school and have received my results for my final exams but I can tell you I would not redo my final year of high school for any sum of money. No one prepared me for what was supposed to be my best year. After I experienced Matric I compiled a list of Top Tips to survive it.

  1. Do and finish assignments as soon as you receive them because if you finish your work you will have time for a social life. It's true what they say "good grades, a social life or time to sleep; pick two"
  2. Apply to uni before June so that you do not have to stress during exams about your future plans
  3. Work hard
  4. Study
  5. Make it memorable and don't sweat the small stuff like a one little test because it doesn't count when it comes to your portfolio

Jenner Invasion

We all know the Kardashians, we have a love-hate relationship with them, and along with them came Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the youngest sisters. I personally believe that they are the new it-girls of young hollywood. They are beautiful and stylish and I just cannot stop myself from loving them.
Kendall, who is 17/18 years old, has legs that literally go on for miles and is an incredible model.
Kylie, who is 16 years old, who is best friends with anyone who is anyone in young hollywood and has the best grunge style as well as a cartier love bracelet and ring collection I would kill for.
They have also tried to go down the designing route and they succeeded with they amazing K and K collection at Pacsun.

Shop their collection here:

Kendall has a very successful modelling portfolio for her age:

Kylie, on the other hand, has a personal wardrobe and style that I am impressed by

New York Fashion Week

Last week, as many of you might know, was New York Fashion Week and boy would I do anything to have been there. Seriously. It looked amazing, the fashion lines and trends were define and the streetstyle was outstanding.

Here is a review of my favourite lines and designers from fashion week:

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs is and always will be one of my favourite designers and I honestly feel like this line of his is one of the best i have ever seen. It is like he has gone into my brain and designed exactly what I love. I am a huge fan of the shapeless untailored suits for both when and WOMEN. I love the masculinity of the women range as well as the sport luxe that is contributed to that trend in the sneakers. I feel like male fashion for women is possibly the best and sexiest thing a lady can wear. Not only am I a fan of his perfume, I absolutely adore his fashion ranges. If I only I could afford it...

Alice and Olivia

I feel like Alice and Olivia is possibly one of the most ready-to-wear high fashion brands out there and I definitely believe it needs much more acknowledgments from the industry because let's be honest, Stacey Bendet, the designer, is a goddess.
What I particularly love about this line are the bags, skirts and short tight crop tops. This line contains key pieces that you can rock on a daily basis, it is something that you can throw on and look flawless without much effort. All I can say is Thank you to Stacey Bendet for creating a range where I don't need to be looked up and down or judged for wearing high fashion... Not that I care about the judging but just sayin'...

Karen Walker

The fact that everything in this range is oversized is absolutely amazing. the oversized jumpers, pants and beanies are definitely key pieces that I would personally invest in. Jumpers and beanies are definitely pieces I love wearing during cold seasons. the great thing about this range is that it also consists of great summer pieces like the white blouse/shirt. This is one of the most versatile ranges and consists of the greatest colours like yellow and orange. This is definitely a range I would consider buying key pieces from.

DKNY

What caught my eye at first was that Karlie Kloss, Chanel Iman and Rita Ora walked in this fashion show and when I heard that I knew it must be a great range and I was not disappointed. I love the grunge look of this line especially the netted skirt. I also love the monochromatic outfits but a couple of pops of colour here and there. I am a HUGE fan of the denim jacket and would totally consider it a must-buy. The tight black dress that also appears in orange is possibly the most sexiest piece of clothing I have seen in fashion week yet. This line is perfect if you are experimenting with the grunge look and if you are rocking it.

Nicole Miller

Not only am I a huge fan of model Chloe Norgaard (rainbow haired beauty) but I love this range as well. My favourite is how the hair and make-up for this show looked. The plaits are amazing. There is such a wonderful 1920's inspiration behind this look that is very evident and very beautiful. This is definitely a designer I am gonna watch.

Leave a comment below telling me who was your favourite designer from fashion week.
